Kirin J Callinan's "EMBRACISM" is completely singular, from a region unknown, the stand out debut release of 2013.
As terrible records states, "Kirin J Callinan has his own theory that the three great Australian bands, the Mt. Rushmore of Oz if you will, all have a criminal aspect to them: AC/DC = gang of outcasts raising hell, INXS = sexual deviancy, lasciviousness, and Nick Cave = murderous poet. Kirin has elements of all three, and in time, he will be the fourth face on that rock".
A guitarist, singer, songwriter & solo performer born in Australia, Callinan is a child of the 1980's, he is known for his confrontational live performances, haunting compositions and wild guitar playing. He is a performer by nature, very charismatic, and very unafraid to bare his soul.
In the past year, Kirin has traversed the globe playing with artists such as Grizzly Bear (Chris Taylor also found time to mix his debut record), Ariel Pink, Bat for Lashes and countless others.
He even enlisted mega-fans Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeah's) and Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) to be his backing band for his career launching CMJ festival shows in NYC in late November.
Kirin will dig himself to China for the first time in late July 2013 in support of his internationally critical acclaimed debut record "EMBRACISM" produced by one half of The Presets, Kim Moyes and being released in a three way record label partnership including London's XL Records (The XX, Radiohead, The Horrors), Terrible Records (Grizzly Bear, Blood Orange) and Siberia Records (Midnight Juggernauts).

Kirin J Callinan曾经是悉尼摇滚乐团Mercy Arms的吉他手，2009年乐队解散后独自发展为唱作人。他在本月月初发行了单飞生涯第一张专辑“Embracism”，联手Kim Moyes（The Presets）、Chris Taylor（Grizzly Bear）共同推出，是2013年最值得关注的新专辑之一。而此次演出不仅是Callinan为新专辑所作巡演中的一站，亦为这位澳洲当红独立音乐人的中国首演。
Callinan开始引人注意源自去年在Chris Taylor的厂牌Terrible Records发行了“WIIW / Thighs”这张单曲，阴沉氛围弥漫，不免让人想起他得澳洲老乡Nick Cave。而“Embracism”这张专辑里Callinan进一步让复杂的器乐变得更怪异，飘忽不定的贝斯，不断游移的吉他，激烈地交织在一起，穿插奔流在不同世界里。“The Quietus”网站认为Callinan是现在世界上最令人感到兴奋的新兴音乐人之一。
在舞台上，Callinan的表现力惊人，他默认的表演方式几乎是对观众的一次机枪扫射，不按常理出牌的吉他弹奏，而戏剧化的唱腔也极具穿透力，让第一排的观众总是陷入最混乱的摇滚乐战场。过去几个月Callinan同Grizzly Bear、Yeah Yeah Yeahs、Standish/Carlyon、Ariel Pink等到世界各地一起巡演或演出。去年在CMJ音乐节的演出，Callinan甚至还邀请到了YYYs鼓手Brian Chase作为乐队成员。
