West Coast electro-funk duo Tuxedo is bringing their talents to Shanghai. Made up of Grammy-nominated Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, Tuxedo packs a refreshing punch of funk.
Just as the rest of the world seemed to stop listening to disco tunes, Mayer and Jake discovered a common passion for boogie tunes in one another. On the heels of Pharrell and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” in 2013, Tuxedo made a case for bringing disco back of their own. They quietly released three groove-inducing tracks on the internet (“Do It” is particularly good).
As solo artists they’ve garnered quite a reputation. Mayer’s solo albums earned him the title of renaissance man, while Jake makes beats for the some of the industry’s biggest stars including Drake, J. Cole, and Rick Ross.
Eager to put themselves on the frontline of disco/funk, the tuxedo-wearing duo are landing at Arkham September 9th. Expect plenty of dance records and silky-smooth baby-making tunes.
