Ryan Hemsworth, one of Canada's most recognisable young producers, is gracing SH nightlife with his unique mix of hip-hop, R&B, and indie pop this October 9th @ Arkham.
With an early background as a singer and guitarist, Ryan began toying with the world of drum loops and sampling while he was at University of King's College in Halifax, Canada. His early production career can be defined by this Tumblr description: Ryan Hemsworth, Born On The Internet. After seeing one of his productions on the music website Fader, the young artist quickly started creating and spreading his sound online.
When one of his first releases, No Plans, was featured on SPIN Magazine's Top 20 R&B albums of 2011, he wasted no time following with successive releases of the EPs A Way and Kitsch Genius. His continued relationships with MCs like Main Attrakionz, Deniro Farrar, and Shady Blaze have helped him cultivate a sound that is somewhere between chill wave and trap rap, with quirky melodies and catchy beats that keep your feet moving.
Ryan has been a busy man; he has simultaneously put out DJ mixes, commissioned remixes, production for rappers and solo work in large volume. His efforts have paid off; he has attracted attention and work from mega-star artists like Lana Del Rey, Danny Brown, and Frank Ocean.
